Honored Martyr's Story
As groups of journalists were responding to an earlier suicide bombing by the Taliban, killing 16 people, they went throught a checkpoint in the Shash Darak district of Kabul. In a continuation of attacks orchestrated for that day, one suicide bomber posed as a journalist to target this checkpoint and journalists. Maharam worked for Radio Azadi (Radio Free Europe) and was killed along with 29 people, 9 of them journalists.
