Honored Martyr's Story
Asra was a teenager in high school when all of the neighborhood schools were forced to attend an assembly/rally to praise Khameni. When at this rally, Asra was one of many students who began to chant protest slogans, including “death to the dictator.” The rally was stopped and students were sent to their home schools. When the school director found out, he contacted security forces and held the students captive until the police came and began to beat the students. At this girls’ school, many of the students were seriously injured, but Asra was beaten so severely that she died while in the hospital. Asra loved to be active. She was a biathelete, competing in swimming and running. Her family was threatened into giving a false confession about their child and to not hold a memorial for her. They have been banned from releasing a photo of her.
