Honored Martyr's Story
Shahida was a professional hockey player in Pakistan. She was also the mother of a 3 year old son, who became disabled when he could not receive proper care for a fever and suffered a stroke as a baby. Shahida tolerated a lot of discrimination because she was Hazara, but finally made the decision to migrate so she could get care and medication for her son. Her plan was to root herself and bring her son when she was more settled. She took a boat from Izmir to Europe with 200 people. During a storm, her overflowing boat capsized killing her and at least 64 other people.
