Honored Martyr's Story
Hevrin was a young Syrian Kurdish politician who worked to support the autonomy of the Kurdish people as well as the establishment of the nationhood of Rojava. She was especially involved in the liberation of the North Eastern region of Syria from ISIS. She along with 9 other people were killed by Ahrar al-Sharqiya a faction of the National Army backed by the Turkish government in the first days of Turkish invasion of Rojava. After her death, a photo circulated claiming that it was the body of Hevrin but found to be propaganda because the YPG woman in the photo had not been injured in the same way. Hevrin was dragged by her hair, tearing apart her body, then shot all over, leaving no easily recognizable traces of her. She is considered a martyr and hero in Rojava.
