Honored Martyr's Story
Maryem and her siblings witnessed one strike by the US Coalition forces who were in search of Daesh planting a car bomb. They ran to find shelter in the home of Mohammad and Shamsah when the second strike hit them. In all 15 people were killed, none were Daesh, and most were women and children. The members of Daesh who had been planting car bombs fled and only civilians were killed. At the time in 2017, the US Coalition stated that civilians were not killed. It was only after several reports by the Los Angeles Times that the US Coalition was forced to admit civilians were killed.
