Honored Martyr's Story
As the war in Yemen intensified, the domestic violence and murders increased drastically. Isbah’s brothers took out their frustrations on her and accused her of having a relationship with a man. Instigated by their father, the brothers tortured her by beating and cutting her with sharp objects for months. She was abused verbally and physically until she was forced to drink poison for weeks, making her sick. She was eventually hung and killed. Her brothers took photos of the entire process, and shared the photos with one another and their father. At the funeral, women noticed the bruises on Isbah’s body and forced an investigation when forensic reports also showed numerous fractures throughout her body.
