Honored Martyr's Story
After her family was killed in the Syrian War, Werde fled to Turkey for refuge. As a trans woman, her life was regularly at threat in Syria where war and cruelty seemed to have no end. She was stabbed to death in her apartment in Istanbul, where she thought she could be safer. Her murder happened after numerous governmental actions were taken to repress the rights and livelihoods of Syrian refugees and the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Bisexual, Queer, Intersex and Gender Neutral people.
