Honored Martyr's Story
Romina and her family lived in a violent home in fear of the temper of her father Reza Ashrafi. A 29 year old man, Bahman Khaveri, saw Romina at age 12 and stalked her. He found her information and, through access to her mobile and friends, groomed her to run away and elope with him. Romina’s father had already been violent and threatened to kill her if she continued to interact with that man. Just as she turned 14, Romina ran away with Khaveri and eloped. Since Romina’s father did not approve, he sent police to bring her back to the family. Romina pleaded for her life to the police, but was legally the property of her father, so she was returned. A while after her return, Romina’s father used a farming sickle and beheaded her as she slept. It is said that while she was away, he was inquiring how much jail time he would see if he killed his daughter with the answer being maximum 3-10 years.
