Honored Martyr's Story
Hatice was shot in the head while walking down the street with her sister in the Black Sea resort town of Rize when her ex-husband, 61-year-old Ali Riza Havuz, walked up and confronted her. He had been stalking her Instagram account with three fake accounts. When she posted a photograph of herself with her sister, both in hijab, he was angered that she was showing herself off. Ali Riza isn’t facing serious charges. It is believed that Hatice divorced him because he was abusive.
