Honored Martyr's Story
Abrion moved to Saudi Arabia to become a domestic worker for a household of 8, recruited by an agency in her home country of Bangladesh in 2017. She repeatedly called home and complained of abuse and torture, but the family and agency would not allow her to leave. On October 24, her mutilated and unrecognizable body was sent home to her family. Abrion’s family is working with human rights organizations to hold the agency accountable for trafficking and the family- Bassem Salem, his wife Ayesha al-Jizani and their son Walid Basem Salem- for torture and murder. It is not believed Abrion and her family will receive justice.
