Honored Martyr's Story
Born and raised in England, Anna was involved in antifacist, anarchist and abolitionist movements most of her life. She left Sussex in 2017 to join YPJ forces in Kurdistan to fight off the Islamic State in northern Syria and Kurdistan, and to maintain Rojava’s autonomous status. The YPJ not only fought Daesh, but they also cleared Raqqa and Deir Ezor of landmines to make the areas habitable again. She was killed by Turkish bombs targeting Kurdish and Rojava fighters. She died as Hêlîn.
