Honored Martyr's Story

The small village of al-Ghayil in the Yakla region was home to mostly civilians with some militants said to have been associated with Al-Qaeda intermingled. In the first invasive raid of the Trump administration, the Navy Seals and Emerati special forces ended up killing at least 59 civilians, mostly women and children. One Navy Seal was also killed. The sloppy raid began with an air assault. As people fled their homes after the air attacks, they were shot at indiscriminately. This young woman lived in a home with numerous accused Al-Qaeda militants. She was the sister-in-law of Arwa al-Baghdadi, a suspected AQAP militant strategist. People in the village said the sister-in-law was pregnant, but her body was not identified and she was not named.
