Honored Martyr's Story
Little information is available about this woman, if she was a willing or unwilling wife, and what her her role was in a mostly male household, many claimed by Al-Qaeda as militants. The small village of al-Ghayil in the Yakla region was home to mostly civilians with some militants said to have been associated with Al-Qaeda intermingled. In the first invasive raid of the Trump administration, the Navy Seals and Emerati special forces ended up killing at least 59 civilians, mostly women and children. One Navy Seal was also killed. The sloppy raid began with an air assault. As people fled their homes after the air attacks, they were shot at indiscriminately.
